Robert F. Harkness

Robert “Hoop” Harkness, age 85, of W6729 County Hwy. CC, Tomahawk, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at UW Hospital in Madison. Hoop was born on April 2, 1931 in Barrington, Illinois to Ferguson and Rose (Young) Harkness. He served 4 years in the US Navy during the Korean War. On November 12, 1955 he married Marilyn Rix in Lake Zurich, Illinois. He was employed at Illinois Bell Telephone for 30 years. He and Marilyn also owned and operated Mistletoe Inn on Lake Nokomis from 1975 to 1981. Hoop enjoyed hunting and being in the woods. Survivors include: Wife, Marilyn 2 Sons, Scott (Sandra) Harkness Ron Harkness all of Tomahawk Hoop is further survived by 5 grandchildren (Roni Jo, Shannan, Hillary, Scott, Jr, and Shawnee), 5 great grandchildren (Drake, Tara, Max, Phoenix, and Tim) and Step grandchildren (Ashley, Tim, Georgia, Tana, Jennifer, Jonathon, and Anglea). In keeping with Hoop’s wishes his life will be celebrated privately by his family. The Krueger Family Funeral Home is assisting the family.
