Robert B Holm

November 30, 1952 — March 25, 2018

Robert B Holm

Robert Bruce Holm, age 64, passed away unexpectedly in the arms of his daughter, on Sunday, March 25, 2018. He was soon surrounded by his loved ones as he joined his wife in heaven.

Robert Bruce was born on July 20, 1953 in Kenosha to Robert John & Arline (Tucholl) Holm. Robert spent his younger years growing up in Lake Shangri-La, WI and graduated from Salem Central High School in 1971.

Following high school, he apprenticed in Tool and Die with his father at Holm’s Manufacturing Company in Kenosha. His talent as a machinist was in his blood as he followed in his father’s footsteps. After moving his family from Kenosha to Rhinelander in August of 1990, he then continued his work as a machinist at Oldenburg Group Incorporated (Lakeshore) from November 1991 until his retirement in January 2017.

The man we love will be fondly remembered as always being a kind and happy kid, qualities he carried into his adulthood. He was always making or building something, practiced martial arts, loved the outdoors which included many camping and fishing adventures, enjoyed pets of all kinds (including a raccoon he had when he was growing up and large aquariums). He also enjoyed traveling as he remembered a road trip to Mexico with his family as a young child. Robert and his father also took a trip of a lifetime spending a week in Hawaii and 3 weeks exploring Australia in December 2001.

He married his longtime significant other, Cathy, the same month they moved up north. His love for life also showed in his green thumb, having a flower and vegetable garden, his greenhouse which included a cactus collection and a house full of plants. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially spending time with the grandchildren, endless hours of enjoyable pool time in the summer, listening to music of all genres and most importantly loving and caring for his wife until the time of her passing in May of 2017.

Robert was a kind soul with a mischievous sense of humor who will be dearly missed and cherished by all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his daughters – Stasha Kramsvogel of Kenosha and Shayle (Nick Rogers) Berghammer of Rhinelander; his sons – T.J. (Heather) Kramsvogel and Jade (Heidi) Kramsvogel, both of Eagle River; his sister – Robin Lee (David Wright) Holm and family of Martinsville, IN. He is further survived by his grandchildren – Zane, Dylan, Drew, Logan, Hannah, Madyson, Emmaline & Haven; his lifelong friend – Geoffrey Pawlowski of Antioch, IL; Cathy’s surviving sisters and family; his German Shepherd – Annie; and many more friends and extended family in Kenosha & Rhinelander. Robert is preceded in death by his wife – Catherine Ellen Holm and his parents – Robert John & Arline Holm.
