Robert H. Oertli, age 86, of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was born June 30, 1922 in Roundup, Montana to the late Reuben and Henrietta Oertli. He was married to Eunice M. Gronning on June 19, 1949 in Viroqua, WI; she survives.
Bob served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He attended Montana State University, obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. He taught Engineering at Soo Branch of Michigan Tech. He worked for 7 years at Rhinelander Paper. Bob and Eunice moved to Tomahawk in 1958, where he was employed for 27 years at Owens-Illinois Paper Mill as an Engineer. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Tomahawk Lodge F & AM, the Eau Claire Scottish Rite, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Zor Shiner and Zor Funster Clown.
Survivors include, his Wife Eunice M. Oertli of Tomahawk, 2 Daughters Kathryn (James) Cormany of Milwaukee, and Barbara (Dayton) Reuter of Fayetteville, N.Y., 1 Son, Charles (Karrie) Oertli of Port Edwards, WI, 1 Grandson, Mason Oertli at home in Port Edwards, and a Niece, Georgia Jeffery of Rio Vista, CA. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and a Brother, Glenn Oertli.
Funeral Services for Robert Oertli will take place on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 11 AM from Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate with interment to take place at Viroqua Cemetery in Viroqua, WI. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 20 from 4 pm to 7pm at the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday at the church from 10 am until the hour of services at 11. Memorials may be given in Mr. Oertli's name to Shriners Childrens Hospital or the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund.
