Robert (Bob) W. Spalda Bob passed away Sunday, June 3, 2007 at the Veterans Home at King WI after a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease. Born July 12, 1942, he grew up in Milwaukee. Following high school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as Machinist's Mate 3 from 1961 to 1966, receiving an honorable discharge and the Vietnam Service Medal. Following retirement from the Klement's Sausage Company, Bob moved to Tomahawk to enjoy hunting, fishing, and more riding on his Harley. ALS forced his move to the Veterans Home at King where he received excellent, compassionate care. He got involved with the Quad Support Group, giving encouragement to quadriplegics. Survivors include brother, Michael (Barbara) Spalda, Shorewood; sister, Mary Ann Williams, Beaver Dam; sister, Rachel Nuedling, Bonita Springs, Florida; brother-in-law, James Nuedling, Naples, Florida. Nieces: Karen (Steve) Miller, South Milwaukee, and children Alex and Kelsey; Laurie (Douglas) Maki, Columbus, and children Keenan (Brooke) Kalinowski and Nikolas Maki; Bonnie (Brian) Franke, Beaver Dam and daughter, Natalie. Nephews: Jeffery (Pam) Nuedling, Ft. Myers, Florida and twin sons, Brandon and Garrett; Kelly Willliams, Beaver Dam. Also survived by many other relatives and Harley friends. Bob was a long time member of ABATE - American Bikers Against Totalitarian Enactments. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Margaret (Kamens) Spalda, and brother-in-law, George Williams. The family is thankful to the 3rd floor staff of Mac Arthur Hall and Hospice at King, and Pastor Wayne Schwanke, Sister Kathy and Father Paul Vanden Hogen. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the main chapel of the Veterans Home in King. Burial of cremains will follow services at the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
