Rod Knipfer, age 78, 1306 Jaecks Road, Tomahawk, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at his residence under home hospice care.
Rod was born September 14, 1933 in the Town of Bradley, the son of Stearl and Winifred (Jordon) Knipfer. He married Marie Recha on June 8, 1957 in Tomahawk. Rod was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabees from 1951 to 1956. He was employed with the Owens-Illinois Tomahawk Mill for 36 years, retiring as a maintenance supervisor in 1992. Rod enjoyed wood working, fly and jig tying, walleye fishing, deer hunting, and trips to the casino. Rod was a very giving person, and enjoyed sharing music, jigs, and jokes. He particularly loved old-time country music and spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk.

Rod is further survived by 8 grandchildren - Dan and Tony Clements, Nicole Pickard, Scott, Tom, Jamie, Josh, and Jared Halbman, and one great grandson - Zach Pickard. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 8 sisters.
Funeral Services for Rod Knipfer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 from Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Ziemer will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 1st from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.
