ROLAND JANETSKI
Roland Edward “Rollie” Janetski, 92, Phillips, Town of Elk, died in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips while under the care of Falmbeau Home Health and Hospice. He was born on April 20, 1927, in Park Falls, WI, the son of Julius and Ruth (Hellum) Janetski. He was married to Mary Klis on November 4, 1945, in Butternut, Wisconsin. Mary preceded him in death in 1960. He was married to Judy Scheps at Saint John Lutheran Church in Phillips on July 10, 1971. He was a graduate of Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Ashland. He worked as a Lineman for 35 years, first for Lake Superior District Power Company, then Northern States Power, and then for Xcel Energy, retiring in 1983. He served as a part time Deputy for the Price County Sheriff for 15 years. He is a member of Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church and has served on the Church Council there, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2963, and has served as Grand Knight, Guard, and Warden for the Council, was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, served on the Phillips Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years and rose to the rank of Chief, and was a member of the Chaparral Snowmobile Club where he enjoyed grooming trails and maintaining equipment. One of the great highlights of his life was the birth of his great grandson, Camden. In his free time for 36 years he enjoyed camping at the White Birch Campground in Holcomb, and travel with Judy, visiting seven European countries and numerous trips to Wendover, NV.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; by one son, Roland (Kathy), River Falls, WI; by three grandchildren, Marsha (David) Ghegen, Dr. Beth (Mike) Watson, and Dan (Corinne); by one great grandson, Camden Roland; by one sister, Betty, Utah; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first Wife, Mary; by two brothers, Ken and Clay; by one sister, Esther; and by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 21, at Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church with Father Lourdu Raju Madanu celebrating the Funeral Mass. The Phillips Knights of Columbus Council No. 2963 will conduct fraternal honors. Inurnment will be in the Saint Patrick Cemetery in Phillips. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A,M. until the time of services.
