Ronald Eugene McLaughlin
Ronald E. McLaughlin, 82, Township of Flambeau, died at his home on April 18, 2018, after a brief illness. He was born on August 24, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio the son of James O. and Margaret (Sekel) McLaughlin. He attended and graduated high school in Cleveland, Ohio He was married to Janice Lapinskas in September of 1957. She preceded him in death on December 15, 1983. He was then married to Carol A. Staple on October 5, 1991, in Cleveland. She also preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2014. He was employed by the South Euclid Police Department in South Euclid, Ohio from September 1960 to June 1990 where he retired with the rank of Sergeant .He was honored as Policeman of the Year in 1979 by the South Euclid Police Department. Following his retirement they made their home in the Township of Flambeau in 1992.
He was very active in community affairs serving as a Supervisor for the Township of Flambeau, the Indianhead Federated Library Board, Past member of the Price Electric and Dairyland Coop Boards, the Price County Fair Board, and the Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio.
In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, was an avid Cleveland Browns Fan and traveling. As a child he spent many happy hours in the Phillips area.
He is survived by 1 daughter; Peggy (Significant other Mark Waltemathe), McLaughlin Town of Flambeau, 1son: Ronald Terry McLaughlin, Hollywood, Fla, by 1 granddaughter Kassandra Corsi, by 1 grandson Vincent Corsi, by 1 sister Diane King, Cape Coral, Fla., and by a special friend Bertha Herbst, Park Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 brother James, by 1 sister Charlotte Curly Ginnan, and by his wives Janice and Carol.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Park Falls, with Fr. Shaji Pazhukkaihara officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery, Fifield..
Friends may call on Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips from 5:00 P.M.. A parish wake service will be held at 7:00 P.M.
