Ronald Steinberger

February 1, 1941 — January 9, 2016

Ronald “Steiny” Steinberger, age 74 died at his home in Arbor Vitae, on January 9, 2016 after a 5 year battle with cancer. He was the son of George “the Snowshoe man” and Rose Steinberger. He was born on February 1, 1941 in Tomahawk, WI. Steiny was a lifelong resident of Woodruff. From early on he was apprenticed by his father to become a skilled mason and learn the art of making snowshoes. Steiny loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and ATV’s. Steiny had a Woodsman’s admiration for wildlife, and looked forward to every season of the year. But as much as he enjoyed a good day in the woods, whether it meant catching game or not, he reveled in the camaraderie of those fellow woodsman who frequented their “Hunting Shacks”. At home he would relax with his dogs; Blue, Dukee & Jazzie too.

Steiny was preceded in death by his Parents; George and Rose Steinberger. He is survived by his Sister: Carol (Vance) Hewuse and Nephew, Andrew Hewuse all of Colorado and by Dixie, his best friend and partner for the last 23 years. Her family became his family, to grandchildren Abigail and Megan, he was Gpa. Steiny is also survived by his many cousins and many, many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service for Steiny will be held this summer.
