Rose Marie Koth, 89, of W5925 US Hwy. 8, Tomahawk, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. Rose Marie was born on January 19, 1924 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Fredrick and Amelia (Millie Mellin) Howes. She was united in marriage to Robert A. Koth on September 27, 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. She was a graduate of UW Stevens Point. She was an elementary school teacher in Tomahawk at the Washington School, Whittier School, and St. Mary School. In the 1960's she started a summer rec program for kids at the Whittier school. Rose Marie also had owned several businesses in the area: The Toy Store, Sears Catalogue Store, and for a brief time owned the Pine Tree Restaurant. She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Fawn Lake Club, a former member of Maple Birch Tuesday Golf League, many bridge clubs, Friends of the Tomahawk Airport, and Friends of Clear Lake. Rose Marie enjoyed swimming and was her grandchildren's number one fan. She was a member St. Mary Catholic church and had been instrumental in the formation of the Thrift Cellar and a founder of the summer church bazaar which was instrumental in fund raising for the Corpus Christi Center of St. Mary Church. Rose Marie loved watching the Packers, Brewers and Tomahawk Sports. She loved people, parties and a good cocktail. Survivors include: Husband, Robert Children, Robin (Denise Holmes) Koth Middleton, WI Peggy (Tom Steinman) Koth Middleton, WI Randy Koth Fitchburg, WI James "Fred" (Becky) Koth Tomahawk 4 Grandchildren, Lindsay and Brittany, Katie, and Freddy Koth. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, James F. Koth. A Memorial Mass for Rose Marie Koth will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at St. Mary from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to FOCL (Friends of Clear Lake), an organization dedicated to Eurasian milfoil eradication and walleye stocking of the lake.
