ROSE MARY (ROSIE) SUTTON
Rose Mary “Rosie” Sutton, 88, passed away peacefully at Regency House in Phillips, on May 24, 2015, while under the care of her loving family, the Regency House staff, and the Flambeau Home Health and Hospice.
Rose was born on May 31, 1926 to Pompilio and Isolina (Ficcadenti) D’Angelo, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Except for a year in Italy with her mother, the majority of her childhood was spent in a coal mining camp near Welch, West Virginia. When she was 16, Rose moved with her family to Phillips where she was to meet the love of her life, Kenneth Sutton. They were married on June 21, 1947, in Phillips. They built their home East of Phillips, where they raised their nine children.
Rose worked at several different jobs, most notably Phillips Plastics, but her most important job was always as Wife and Mother.
In her free time she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, music, crossword and word search puzzles, watching Western movies, walking, and gardening. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her nine children: Linda (Tom) Schmitt, Sun Prairie, Wis. , Sheila (Brian) Long, Glidden, Kathy (Arthur) Long, Arbor Vitae, Wis., Dorrie (Tony) Grapa, Phillips, Brad (Sandy) Chetek, Merilee (Steve) Johnson, Phillips, Marlin (Beckie) Colorado Springs, Colo., Clint, Jefferson, Wis., and Corey (Lisa) Park Falls, Wis.
By 23 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken on Sept. 14, 2010, her parents, and one brother Joseph D’Angelo
A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church, Phillips, with Pastor Thomas Reiff officiating. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, at the church until the time of the service.
A memorial fund has been established.
