A legend of the Northwoods, our warrior queen, and woman of utmost class, Ruth “Rosie” Reid was welcomed into the spiritual world on Novmeber 21, 2020 at the age of 91 after a brief battle with COVID-19.
She was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother biologically to many and considered a surrogate mother to countless others. Those who knew her were drawn to her razor-sharp wit, incredible instinct, fierce attitude and compassionate heart.
Even at the ripe young age of 91, nothing stopped Rosebud from having a good time. She traveled often and even then only needed the wheelchair to “help transport the dogs." Until her very last day she turned heads with her youthful appearance, feisty demeanor and flawless sense of style. In fact, just last week she refused to go to the ER unless she had makeup on; “I will NOT go in there looking like a mess! Now help me with my hair.”
And those unfortunate souls who endured the wrath of “The Rosebud” would be quick to change their step as she guarded her loved ones with an iron fist. All of the many that had the pleasure of working for her at Spang’s will attest she expected nothing but the highest standards from everyone; her brand and integrity would never be compromised. Pity the fool that called in on a nice day of skiing…
The first person waiting at the gates with open arms for Rosie is the love of her life, partner in crime, dance partner, and husband of 62 years Edward “Spang” Reid. Alongside him are Rosie's parents (Steven and Katherine Clemons), sister Doris Rauen, son-in-law Dan Mahoney, daughter-in-law Debbie Reid, BFFs Ray & Pat Burke, and numerous other friends getting the party started.
Rosie’s legacy will live on and through on earth with each of her five children Nancy, Connie, Edward (Kathy), Joseph, and Laura.
And 14 grandchildren, Ruth Ann Cooper (Rosie Edwina), Harold Cooper “Rusty” (Terri- Cory & Taylor), Jonathan Cooper (Griffin & Marek), Mari Jo Cooper (Cory- Finley & Reid), Joe Reid (Faith, Journey & Rocco), Anthony Dixson (Trent, Tate) Kimberly Reid (Kaelea, Kiona) Keri Reid (Callan-Joey Wiggles), Danny Mahoney, Tyler, Derek, Kevin, Abigail, and Brock Vance. She will also be dearly missed by her sister Alice Taylor and her dog Tinkerbelle.
Join us in raising a glass of Gin (only cheap gin allowed) from a distance for this truly one-of-a-kind lady. She will be missed by so many. May we all strive to live a life as spicy as hers.
A private graveside send-off will be held at St. Germain Cemetery Friday December 4, 2020 at 1:30 pm. Celebration of Life will be Summer 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
