Sandra L. Gilarski

Sandra L. “Sandy” Gilarski, age 79 of Woodruff, WI died on Thursday, April 1th at her residence with her family by her side. Sandy was born on December 25, 1940 in St. James, MO the daughter of Leo and Alline (nee Dodd) Callais.
She attended Oak Grove School in Cuba, MO; a one room school for the first five years and then moved with her family to Chicago, IL. Where she attended St. Columbanus Catholic School graduating in 1954 and then attended Aquinas Dominican High School graduating in 1958.
On September 9, 1961 she married her high school sweetheart Richard Gilarski at St. Richard’s Catholic Church in Chicago, IL.
She worked for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. and Lauerman Brothers Insurance Agency in Chicago, IL.
In November of 1982 she and Richard moved to Mercer, WI. Where she worked for the Wisconsin Insurance North Insurance Agency as Manager and when it was sold to LBS Insurance Agency she continued to manage it until her retirement in 2005.
She was a member of St. Isaac Jogues & Companions Church in Mercer; serving as Sacristan, Reader, Lay Minister and Lay Leader of Prayer.
In November 2014 she and Richard moved to Woodruff, WI and became members of Holy Family Parish serving as Reader and Eucharistic Minister and Lay Leader of Prayer. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister at Howard Young Medical Center. Sandy had a strong devotion to angels.
She is survived by her husband, Richard and by 2 sons David (Terri) Gilarski and Michael Gilarski and by grandchildren Jacob and Jenessa Gilarski and by her brother Charles Callais and by her nieces Kathleen (Jeff) Mueller and Cynthia (Randy) Calabrese. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Cremation took place and Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, WI at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Holy Family Catholic Church.
