Scott Lewis Hanson, 43, W5413 Rolling Ridge Road, Tomahawk, died September 30, 2007. On September 23 while riding his motorcycle, he encountered a deer. The accident resulted in a head injury - Scott did not believe in wearing a helmet.
Scott was born July 20, 1964 in Laona, Wisconsin to the late Theo and Lewis Hanson. He graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1983 and honorably served in the U.S. Army until 1994. He was a skilled tradesman and a gifted carpenter. Scott was employed with Wausau Papers in Rhinelander for 17 years.
Scott enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, hunting, playing poker, golfing, shooting sporting clays, and his beautiful lake home.

Brothers-in-law Todd (Patty) Hitz of Wausau and Donald "Craig" Hassel of Schofield.
Scott is further survived by many nieces and nephews and his beloved black lab, "girl." He was preceded in death by his parents.
During his life, Scott touched the hearts of nearly every person he met. He will always be remembered as a passionate, thoughtful, and confident man.
Funeral services for Scott Hanson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2007 from St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark Schoenherr will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, October 5th from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Krueger & Sons Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m.
Entombment will be at Calvary cemetery in Tomahawk. Military Rites will be held at the gravesite.
Following services, there will be a celebration of Scott's life at Loader's (formerly Alamo Plaza)
Scott's friends and family would ask that this tragedy serve as a lesson of the importance of wearing a helmet.
