Steve Cole

Steve D. Cole, age 62, of 3051 Lee Road, Tomahawk, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. Steve was born on December 10, 1947 in Milwaukee to Daniel and LaVerne Cole. He grew up in Belvidere, Illinois and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Linda Sawyer on October 7, 1972, also in Belvidere. He had worked as a machinist for over 30 years. In 1993 he and Linda moved to Tomahawk, they owned and operated the Pit Stop on Hwy Y until 1999. Steve had formerly served on the Nokomis Town Board, he was an avid fisherman, loved playing pool, and coached football for many years, he started the Pop Warner Football league in Tomahawk. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grand children. Steve was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Survivors include: Wife, Linda Daughter, Heather (Jason) Breitenfeld 2 Sons, Brandon Cole Kris Cole all of Tomahawk 2 Brothers, Jerry (Kathy) Cole Belvidere, IL Bob (Diane) Cole Elroy, WI 2 Sisters, Jenny Ralston Rockford, IL Laura (Raymond) Luckie Bryan, TX Steve is further survived by 4 Grandchildren (Nick, Dylan, Amber, and Shyann) and 1 Great Great Grandchild (Caiden). He was preceded in death by his parents and a Sister, Linda. Funeral Services for Steve Cole will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Rebecca Peters will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow in Prairie Rapids Cemetery in the town of Nokomis. Friends may call at the Krueger Family Funeral Home Thursday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. with a military tribute service at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
