Terry Haines

Terence Neil Haines, 78, of Minocqua passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI. Terry was born November 18, 1938 to William and Ruby Haines in Junction City, KS. After graduating from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1957, Terry served three years of active duty in the Armed Forces, achieving the rank of Platoon Sergeant. Terry was joined in marriage to Constance Bystrom in March of 1965. Terry attended college at University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where he earned his undergraduate degree in social work and later went on to University of Wisconsin - Madison where he earned his Sociology Master’s degree. While in graduate school he became a service member of the Army Reserves. He was then employed with Department of Corrections in Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Washington until his retirement in April 2000. Terry moved back to Wisconsin from North Dakota in 2008 so he could spend more time with family - many celebrations and weekend trips were spent together at his home. Terry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Terry especially loved training and hunting with the many dogs he had throughout his years. He was also an enthusiastic Badgers, Packers and Brewers fan. In the last two years, favorite activities also included walking through the woods with Marion, watching the wildlife outside their home together, and cooking delicious food.
Terry is survived by his three sons, Timothy (Elizabeth) of Boscobel, Randal of Madison, and Toby (Jacquelyn) of Fitchburg; his grandchildren, Carli, Bailey, Braxton, Sydney, and Katelyn; his brother, K.G. of Deforest; his very special friend, Marion Heidtke-Ennis; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his spouse Connie in 1995.
A memorial gathering with Military Funeral Honors was held at the Nimsgern Funeral Home in Woodruff on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017.
