Theodore W Amelse

Theodore W. Amelse, 91, a lifelong Harrison area resident, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Country Terrace in Tomahawk.

Ted was born August 27, 1927 in Harrison to Theodore R. and Agnes (Bartels) Amelse. He married Whilemina Schoone on June 9, 1949, in Harrison. They recently celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Ted was a dairy farmer and logger in Harrison. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, reading, sitting by a fire having a beer and telling stories. Ted, especially enjoyed his family and their  “Christmas in July” celebrations at the family cabin.

Survivors include his wife, Whil. 5 daughters, Ruth Ann (Cliff) Anderson of Okeechobee, Florida; Chris (Dan) Towle of Tomahawk; Mary (John) Kimball of Albany, New York; Lucy (Jim) Berndt of Rice Lake; Loretta (Dale) Wanta of Tomahawk; 3 sons, Dick (Jeannie) Amelse of Mosinee; Bill (Bobbi) Amelse of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; and Ed (Kelly) Amelse of Palatine, Illinois. Also left behind are a brother, George (Johanna) Amelse of Merrill and a sister in law, Dede Amelse of Woodruff. Ted is further survived by 25 grandchildren and 47.5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and 2 great grandsons.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019, 11:00 a.m. from St. Augustine Catholic Church in Harrison. Fr. Louis  Marram Reddy will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish Cemetery. The Amelse family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home Sunday evening from 4 until 7 PM with a parish rosary service beginning at 7 PM.
