Thomas Basil Worden, 81, Phillips, died in the Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake on Sunday, August 11, 2019. He was born in Phillips on April 17, 1938, the son of Basil and Elaine (Meier) Worden. He was a 1956 graduate of the Phillips High School, and while in high school placed all conference in basketball and football, and placed in state music competition. He served his country in the United States Army. He was married to Kathleen Fuller on December 21, 1991, in Radison, Wisconsin, and they made their home on the shores of the Chippewa River. He was employed as a Sales Representative by the Drott Tractor Company of Milwaukee, and later was employed by Lake Area Sanitation of Rice Lake until the time of his retirement. He was an accomplished trumpet player and over the years played in numerous jazz and Dixieland bands throughout the state. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two sons, Clinton (Peggy), Chetek, WI, and Curtiss, Chetek, WI; and by five siblings, William, Gene (Kathy), Frank (Joan), James (Jackie), and Elaine “Cassie”, and by the Halvorson cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, on May 5, 2008; and is also preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne and Nora.
At his request, no funeral services will be held. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips.
