THOMAS ‘TOM’ J. BALSIS
Thomas “Tom” J. Balsis, 69, Township of Worcester, died on Monday, March 14, 2016, at his home.
He was born on January 29, 1947, in Phillips, the son of Alfred and Alice (Tauschman) Balsis.
He spent his entire life in the Phillips area except for serving his country in the U.S. Army. He attended and graduated from Phillips High School, Class of 1965. Following high school he served his country in the U.S. Army, from 1967 to 1969. in the United States and Germany.. He was married to Alice Schancer on August 17, 1974, in Kennan. They were married for over 41 years.
He was employed by Lionite Hardboard, Phillips for over 25 years, and then in the automotive industry at Phillips Ford, Park Falls and Phillips, prior to his retirement in 2012. Following his retirement he returned to work at Phillips Ford on a part time basis. In his free time he enjoyed anything dealing with cars, woodworking projects, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Phillips.
He is survived by his wife Alice, Town of Worcester, by 2 daughters: Melanie (Brandon) Shelton, Deerfield, Wi., Stefanie (Brent) Sokup, St. Paul, Minn., and by 1brother: Robert (Nadeen) Balsis, Oak Creek, Wi.,
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the United Methodist Church, Phillips, with Pastor Loretta Waughtal officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778, and the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post #122, both of Phillips.
Friends may call from 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the United Methodist Church, Phillips until the time of the service at 11:30 A.M.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
