Thomas Jerry Hejda, age 82, passed away in the morning on March 16, 2017 at Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home, Naperville, IL after a long battle with dementia. He was born in Chicago, Il. on June 25, 1934 and lived in Phillips for a long part of his life.
Tom was an adventurous man, full of life. He loved his family, friends, music, dancing, singing and traveling the country while driving semi-truck. He served in the United States Army and later the National Guard Reserves. He worked many years at the Price County Courthouse starting first in janitorial then moving on to maintenance. From there, he retired and returned back to truck driving for many years until he became ill.
He is survived by 2 sons; Thomas “Tom” (Irena) Hejda II of Rockford, IL, Brian Hejda of Waupaca, WI and 3 daughters; Judith “Judi” (Robert) Sanchez of Plainfield, IL, Kathleen “Kat” Hejda of Maricopa, AZ, Terese (Andy) Ziembo of Medford, WI, 10 grandchildren, 1 brother; Donald “Don” Hejda of Phillips, WI. He was proceeded in death by his parents Joseph and Theresa (Rabusitz) Hejda.
Funeral services will be held graveside at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 at the Emery Cemetery, East of Phillips, with Pastor Glenn Sokolowski of the St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post No. 5778 of Phillips and the Lane Kreiling American legion Post No. 122 of Phillips.
