Thomas Miklautsch

Thomas W. Miklautsch, 68 of Minocqua, WI, joined the Lord Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013 with his wife Mimi by his side at Seasons of Life Hospice home due to pancreatic cancer and coronary heart disease. Born April 4th, 1944, in Rib Lake, WI, Tom was the third of five children to William and Louise Miklautsch. After high school graduation and spending eighteen years on the family farm, he joined the Army. He proudly served from 1962 until 1968, earning the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged. Tom relocated to Highland Park/Libertyville, Illinois where he owned his own company, Miklautsch Construction Inc. He built multiple successful companies during this time including Liberty Kitchen and Bath Inc. as well as Maplestone and Company Inc. Upon retirement in 1994, Tom moved to the northwoods of Minocqua. There he built a life with his adored wife, Mimi, whom he married in 1995. It was here that he reincorporated Maplestone and Company Inc., which helped develop Rockwood Estates further. This allotted him the opportunity to share his knowledge and time through many different organizations. He was proud to be a part of the American Legion Post 89, Knights of Columbus, the Chamber of Commerce, the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, the Shishabogema/Gunlock Lake Association and the Rockwood Country Club Association. Holding a special place in Tom's heart was his involvement in the Holy Family Catholic Church building committee which spearheaded the construction of the new church. Tom loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, both in Minocqua and on his family farm in Rib Lake, fishing and finding an excuse to take a ride on his Gator. There was hardly a sunny day that did not warrant a pontoon ride in his eyes, which is often what happened. Tom and Mimi enjoyed spending their time working in harmony in their many flower and vegetable gardens. Tom always welcomed friends and family as time spent with them made each day more enjoyable. Tom planted many seeds throughout his life, in his honor let us watch them grow. Due to an incredible team of doctors at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, support from family and friends and amazing fortitude and willpower on his own behalf, Tom was given the gift of a heart transplant in January 2003. His friends and family are forever grateful for the extended time with such an amazing man. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise Miklautsch, his brother Pete Miklautsch and the beloved family yellow lab, Jessie. Tom is survived by his wife Mimi Miklautsch; children Roxanne (Cliff) Canovi, Rhonda (John) Nagy, Judd Sircy, Kendra (Eric) Stone, Khyl (Ryan) Berndt, Jacob Sircy; grandchildren Sarah (Mike) Oglesby, Ashley Rice, Ian Canovi, Patrick and Kate Sircy, Ramsey Berndt; great-grandchildren Logan and Shane Oglesby; siblings Marge (Clarence) Kropp, Louise (Don) Dassow, Billie (Curt) Taylor; sister-in-law Barb Miklautsch and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 11th at Nimsgern Funeral Home in Woodruff, WI 54568 as well as from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, January 12th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, WI 54568. The service will be at 11 a.m Saturday, January 12th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, WI with internment at Sunset Cemetery in Arbor Vitae immediately after. A reception will follow back at Holy Family. Memorial donations may be sent to Holy Family Catholic Church or Seasons of Life/Hospice home both in Woodruff, WI. The family of Thomas W.
