Vera Marie Kerler

December 13, 1934 — July 2, 2016

Vera (Joern) Kerler beloved wife of Ralph Kerler died peacefully at home
with her family by her side on Saturday morning July 2, 2016 at the age of
81. She was born Dec 13, 1934 in Chicago to the late Henry and Vera Joern of Park Ridge IL.

She married Ralph Kerler on August 25, 1956 at her parents home in Park
Ridge. This August would have been their 60th anniversary. She is survived
by Ralph, Daughters Sharon Zier and Missy Kerler (Jay Kromschroeder),
Granddaughters Sydney and Morgan Zier, Sister Barbara Christiansen,
Niece Pam Potter, Many other Nieces and Nephews, and her beautiful Golden Retriever Annika.

Vera and Ralph’s parents independently built cabins in the Spring of 1951on Little Crawling Stone Lake. Their summer romance blossomed duringthe days of Tom & Lydia’s Cellar and Squirrel Ski Hill. Vera and Ralph andtheir girls drove from their home in West St Paul and later Inver GroveHeights MN to the family cabin in Lac du Flambeau every 2nd or 3rd weekend year around from 1956 until 2007, when the Kerler Cabin becametheir home. Both families started vacationing in Lac du Flambeau during WW 2.

Vera was raised on a Hobby Farm in Park Ridge so always had a love for
animals. She raised show horses that competed at the national level. Her
Quarter Horse stallion “Quincy Luck” and his offspring won many halter andriding classes at Quarter Horse shows throughout the country. She was aDakota County MN 4H leader and started a 4H Horse Club that also competed at the county, state, & national levels. Vera was a dedicated stay at home Mother and marvelous cook. She loved being involved in family
reunions in our beautiful vacation area.

Vera enjoyed traveling with her husband Ralph all over the US & Europe.
They skied in New Hampshire, Vermont, Michigan, Colorado, Utah, andCalifornia. She accompanied Ralph on month long assignments in Salt Lake City UT and Scottsdale AZ. Their favorite countries were Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia. Vera started going to Florida as a youngster. After their marriage she especially enjoyed visiting Casey Key FL on the Gulf where they stayed at Gulfside Beach Club since1978.

Vera was active in the Up North Model A Club with their 1929 Model A Ford
Taxicab that they owned since 1958. They drove this now 87 year old car in WI, Upper and Lower MI, IL, MN, and into Canada. She was also active at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lac du Flambeau as a Deacon.

Vera was in Hospice at Home from March 17 where she receivedoutstanding care from Hospice Aids (thank you Lorena), Nurses, Social Workers, and Chaplain.

The Christian Funeral Service will be on Monday July 11 at 2 PM atCommunity Presbyterian Church in Lac du Flambeau located on WI Hy 47.

Memorials are suggested at Ministry Home Care Hospice of Woodruff or The Community
Presbyterian Church in Lac du Flambeau.
