Violet Herman (nee Koepke), age 75, of N91449 Tomahawk Road, Tomahawk WI, passed away Sunday September 18th 2016, at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.
Violet was born on April 24th 1941, to Walter and Clara Koepke. She was married to Donald Herman in December 1978, and he preceded her in death in February 2016. She was employed for over 30 years by the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and retired as the Personnel Manager at the Lincoln Hills school in Irma. At the time of her death, Violet was the Treasurer of the Township of Tomahawk. She enjoyed riding horses, raising miniature horses and gardening. She was an avid animal lover, especially of her cats, and anyone who knew her will attest to the fact that no animal ever went hungry or homeless around Violet. She also loved playing pool with her friends. Her greatest love however was for her family—especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She was a very active member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church here in Tomahawk, and could be found volunteering whenever permitted by her health. Another of her most favorite activities was spending time with her long-time dear friend, Elaine Johnson, also of Tomahawk.
Violet is survived by her son Tom (Carla) Betka of Green Bay; two step-sons Lance Herman and Mark (Mary) Herman, both of Tomahawk; a daughter-in-law Kris (Timmy) Herman of Tomahawk; her siblings Hazel (Lyle) Marnholtz of Merrill, Marcella (Jim) Young of Gleason, and Don (Sue) Koepke of Fort Atkinson. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren – Megan, Bryan, Kelly, Sara, Kim, Mindy & Chad; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. Violet is preceded in death by Donald Herman, her husband of 37 years; her parents; one step-son Tim Herman; 2 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim & Robert Koepke; and one sister, Elaine Ebert.
Memorial services for Violet Herman will be held at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday September 23, 2016, at 11AM. Reverend Mark Schoenherr will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM. Internment will take place at the Merrill Memorial Cemetery.
