VIRGINIA SMETAK
Virginia Mae Smetak, 97, former Phillips resident, died in the park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls on Saturday, May 18, 2019. She was born in Spooner, Wisconsin, on March 11, 1922, the daughter of Edwin and Rosella (Kruger) Oberg. She moved to Phillips with her family as a child, and attended the Phillips High School. She was well known in the area for her painting and artistic abilities. She owned and operated the Country Studio of Fine Art. She was a member of the Phillips congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Prentice) McKinney, Milwaukee; by two grandchildren, Tiffany and Denise; and by three sisters, Joy Jacobson, Ogden, UT, Gloria Burns, Rochester, MN, and Evelyn Olson, Park Falls. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Robert, and Hal Oberg.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Phillips with Shane Bastil officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 Noon until the time of services.
