Virginia 'Gennie' Nord, 66, W11049 Greene Drive, Tripoli, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital, E.R. Gennie was born October 13, 1946 in Tomahawk, the daughter of Michael and Esther (Greene) Nord. She was a graduate of Univerity of Wisconsin Milwaukee and was a creative writing instructor with the University of Montana at Missoula until her retirement. Gennie was also a former editor and publisher, a published poet, and a recipient of the Victor Hugo Scholarship. She moved back to Tripoli in 1998, and enjoyed reading and connecting with friends on Facebook. She had a special love for her dog - Merkel. Survivors include: Sisters, Gayle Bergman, Florida, Sandra Hoglund, Columbus, Georgia Gennie is further survived by good friends, Marlene Steen and Bill Burcalow, many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. A Funeral Service for Gennie Nord will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Krueger Family Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Mathein will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Somo Cemetery in the Town of Somo.
