Virginia Sweek

Virginia “Fran” Sweek, age 97, of Tomahawk, passed away on April 17, 2023 at Riverview Health Services is Tomahawk, under the care of Compassus Hospice.

Fran was born on March 21, 1926 in Rhinelander to Milion & Kathryn (Messer) Evers. She was first married to David Whalen and was later married to Adolph Sweek, both preceded her in death. Fran enjoyed gardening, fishing, rosemaling and quilting. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Fran is survived by her children – Dan (Sue) Whalen of Brownfield, Maine, Toni Whalen of Lake Tomahawk, Micky (Jean) Whalen of Irma and Marion (Rick) Kohl of Tomahawk; daughter-in-law – Liz Whalen of Wausau; and brother – Jack Evers of Milwaukee. She is further survived by her 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Fran is preceded in death by her two husbands, son – Tom and grandson – Brian Gehrke.

The Memorial Service for Fran Sweek will take place at 11:00AM at St. Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Fr. Louis Maram Reddy will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM.
