WALTER R. KEMPTON
Walter R. Kempton, 86, Phillips, died in the Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls while under the care of Flambeau Home Health and Hospice. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 3, 1931, the son of Walter and Rose Kempton Sr. He served his country in the United States Army in Germany. He was married to Rita who died in an automobile accident in their first year of marriage. He was married to Lily Franson on August 8, 1992, in Phillips and they later divorced but became better friends. He was employed as a Master Electrician by Maarquip, Inc in Phillips, did electrical work for a number of area corporations, operated Eagle Video, and KW Coffee. He was a member of Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church of Phillips, President of the Northwind Flying Club, and had been a member of the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post No 5778. He took piano lessons while he was in his 70’s and enjoyed playing for his elderly friends, and also at Club 13 and the Green Lantern in Glidden; he also enjoyed art painting and watching wildlife.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 26, at Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Military Honors will be conducted by the Lane Kreiling American Legion Post No. 122 and the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post No. 5778. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will be in the Prentice Cemetery in Prentice.
