Werner R. Hoglund, age 89, of 1993 Sunset Rd; Tomahawk, passed away early Sunday morning at the Walnut Grove Hospice Home in Merrill. He was born Aug. 26, 1919 in Tomahawk to the late Joseph and Karolina Hoglund and was married to Jeanette Cullifer on July 7, 1944 in Portsmouth, VA. Werner was born and raised in Tomahawk, served in the 82nd Airborne Glider Infantry during WW2, and retired as mill manager of Tomahawk Power And Pulp following 30 plus years of employment there. He enjoyed camping, traveling, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the American Legion, the 40 et 8 club, the Elks and the Tomahawk Lions clubs. Werner was the last survivor of the original Sweedish Lutheran Church of Tomahawk which is now Grace Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife Jeanette, 1 daughter- Sue (Charles) Kuhnmuench of Edger, WI 1 son- Rick ( Judy) Hoglund of Columbus, Ga 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter-Sharon Johnson, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services for Werner Hoglund will be held at 11:00 Wed. morning at the Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Rebecca Peters officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church Wed. morning from 9:00 until the hour of services at 11:00. Interment and military rites will be conducted at Greenwood Cemetery. The family requests any memorials be made out to the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund.
