Wilhelmina “Whil” Roberts, age 95, of Tomahawk passed away at Country Terrace on Monday, February 18, 2019 under the care of Ministry Hospice.
Whil was born on August 18, 1923 in Harrison to Henry & Wilhelmina (Schoone) Renn. She was first married to Raymond Basil; together they had 7 children. Later, Whil married Gerald Roberts in September of 1987; he survives. Whil worked at Kall’s IGA in the meat department for many years. She also worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, at Weinbrenner Shoe in Merrill & was a Home Health Aid. She loved flowers, especially tulips and trilliums, cards, crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting. Whil as a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Whil is survived by her husband – Gerald Roberts of Tomahawk; 6 Daughters – Mary Sann of Wausau, Jane (Russ) Penkalski of Stoddard, Ella (Tom) Sheldon of Rhinelander, Joyce (Jack) Verbist of Harrison, Theresa (John) Majerus of West Bend & Delores (Phil) Miller of Wausau; 5 siblings – Peter (Kathy) Renn of Harrison, Paul Renn of Harrison, Mary (George) Sladek of Merrill, Isabelle (Neal) Olkives of Rib Lake & Sister Francis Renn of New Jersey; Whil is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren & 3 great great grandchildren. Whil is preceded in death by her parents, first husband – Ray Basil, son – George, and siblings – Charles, Butch, John, Barb, Johanna & Henry.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Wilhelmina Roberts will take place at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 22, 2019. Fr. Louis Maram Reddy will officiate. Visitation will take place in the church on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of Mass at Noon. Whil will be buried in Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
