William J. Wilber, age 80, of Tomahawk, passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2017 under the care of his loving wife and Aspirus Home Hospice.
Bill was born January 19, 1937 in Tomahawk to Joseph and Harriet (Krueger) Wilber. He married Lillian “Tootie” LaVoy on June 11, 1960 in Rhinelander. Bill served for 20 years in the Army National Guard. He was a licensed Master Barber owning and operating Bill’s Barber Shop in the old Hotel building for 25 years. Bill also served on the Town of Tomahawk Town Board for 14 years. In his spare time he enjoyed anything outdoors, canoeing, bicycling, walking, and camping. He and Tootie enjoyed traveling and had spent the last 10 winters in New Mexico. He cherished the time spent with grandchildren and hunting trips out west with his sons. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Irma.
Survivors include: Wife, Tootie Children, Joe (Far) Wilber Wyoming Andy (Sherry) Wilber Montana Mary (Randy) Mahnke Muskego Sister, Katy Miller Rhinelander Bill is further survived by 4 grandchildren (Cody, Alex, Howie, and Sammy), one Great granddaughter (Emma), and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Funeral services for Bill Wilber will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Irma. Pastor Hans Heisinger will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.
