William Hegger

William Hegger, age 87, Hazelhurst, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at his residence under the care of Ministry Home Hospice, surrounded by his family. Bill was born January 5, 1927, the son of William and Anna (Lampe) Hegger. He married Ruth Menser on August 21, 1954 in Minocqua; she passed away October 11, 2006. Bill went to work as a machinist with U.S. Can in Racine in 1965, retiring in 1988. He was also a resident of Hazelhurst for the past 48 years, moving there permanently in 1988 following his retirement. Bill had a touch of wanderlust, which led him to visit various relatives and friends across the country. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also had his own style of cooking, including per dimpling any recipe. He had an easy way with people, could talk to anyone, and felt he never met a person he didn't know. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in WWII. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Survivors include: long-time companion, Gloria White, Tomahawk; daughters, Susan (Webster) Temple, Alamogordo, New Mexico, Nancy (Terry) Johnson, Albert Lea, Minnesota, Peggy (Eddie) Coffey, Dawson Springs, Kentucky, Jean (Kent) Schneider, Racine, Wisconsin, Gail (Rob) Woelfle, Brooklyn, Wisconsin, Cheryl Hegger, Racine, Wisconsin, Vera (James) Stock, Franksville, Wisconsin; siblings, Marv (Nina) Hegger, Pleasanton, California, Anna Mae Frisse, Highland, Illinois, Lorraine Horrel, Pennsylvania. Bill is further survived by eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and Gloria's children - Jackie Gaedtke, Joan Kleinschmidt, Patti Ingman, Kenny White, and Debbie Andradi. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife - Ruth, three brothers, and three sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill Hegger will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Father John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial with Military Rites will follow Mass at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk. Memorials are appreciated to the American Lung Association or Dr. Kate Hospice.
