William Louis Krueger
William L. Krueger, 92, Phillips, died on Friday, September 9, 2016, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips.
He was born on November 29, 1923, in Glen Ellyn, Ill., the son of Arthur and Lillian (Krueger) Krueger.
He spent his early life and schooling in Illinois where he attended the Glenbard High School in Glen Ellyn.
Following his education he entered military service in the U.S. Navy during WW2 in the South Pacifac and the Mediteranean Theartres of Action from 1943 to 1946.
He was married to Mary Ellen Williams in 1947. They later divorced. He was then married to June Banbury.. She preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2006.
He was employed for many years as a residential and commercial plasterer and also as the Deputy Assessor for DuPage County, Ill., prior to his retirement. They moved to the Phillips area after retirement. They owned and operated the Cabin Bar in Phillips for a short period after making their home in the area.
In his free time he enjoyed woodcarving especially wildlife, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by 2 sons: Keith (Mary Beth) Krueger, Barton, Fla., and Dean (Sandy) Krueger, Phillips, by 1 stepson Ben Banbury, Phillips, by 3 grandchildren: D.J., Andrew and Consuelo, and by 1 great granddaughter Cecily.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife June.
There are no services being planned at this time.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
