William Westergren

William D. Westergren, age 89, W11820 Barney Drive, Tripoli, passed away June 12, 2007 at his residence under hospice care. William was born June 14, 1917 in Tripoli to John and Sanna (Kujala) Westergren. He married Marion Shay on March 25, 1949 in Tomahawk; she survives. William was raised on the family farm in Tripoli. He later lived in Iron River, where he managed Iron River Cooperative for 35 years. William and Marion moved back to Tripoli in 1985. He was a former Treasurer for the Town of Somo, serving 11 years. William was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. He was a member of the Tripoli Log Church. Survivors include: Wife Marion Westergren of Tripoli 2 Daughters Mary Ann (Tom) Lake of Eau Claire Marlys (James) Plucinak of Saginaw, Minnesota 1 Son William R. (Anna) Westergren of East Bethel, Minnesota William is further survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister - Florence, and 4 brothers - Frank, Leo, Carl, and Ray. Funeral Services for William Westergren will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2007 from the Tripoli Log Church in Tripoli. Larry Mathein will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow services at Somo Cemetery in the Town of Somo.
